How to buy gluten free beer direct from the brewery
The best gluten free beer often never reaches a shop at all. Buying direct from the brewery gets you the freshest beer, the full range rather than one token line, and the naturally gluten free options you cannot find anywhere else. Here are the UK breweries that ship gluten free beer to your door.

The best gluten free beer in Britain often never reaches a shop at all. It goes from the conditioning tank to a brewery webshop to your fridge, and the people drinking it are the ones who knew to look. If you want the freshest beer, the widest choice, and the naturally gluten free options that no supermarket carries, buy direct from the brewery. These are the breweries that ship it to your door.
Why buy direct
Freshness. Beer is perishable and hop character fades. A can from a brewery webshop reaches you in days, not the weeks a supermarket supply chain takes. For the hop forward pales and IPAs that dominate independent gluten free brewing, that is the difference between vibrant and flat.
The full range, not a token line. A supermarket listing is one commercial decision by one buyer. Breweries that have turned their entire range gluten free, like Brass Castle, Triple Point and Fierce Beer, can only show you all of it if you go direct. The one or two SKUs that reach a shop are not what these breweries actually make.
Naturally gluten free, only direct. Altgrain, one of the only UK breweries using entirely gluten free grains with no enzyme treatment, is in no major supermarket. If you want beer brewed without barley or wheat in the first place, direct or specialist is currently the only route.
Supporting the independent. These are mostly small, owner run businesses. A direct sale puts far more into the brewery than a supermarket listing does, and margin matters to a small producer. Buying direct is how breweries like these keep going.
The naturally gluten free pick: Altgrain
If you are cautious about enzyme treated beer, this is the cleanest route there is. Altgrain brews in a dedicated gluten free brewhouse from millet, quinoa, buckwheat and rice. No barley, no wheat, no enzyme. There is nothing to remove because nothing was ever there. Its webshop ships UK wide with free delivery over £51, and the range includes the Random Pale Ale and a Session IPA. For a coeliac who wants zero contact with gluten containing grains at the brewery level, Altgrain is in a category of its own.
Green’s is the other naturally gluten free name, brewing from sorghum, millet, brown rice and buckwheat, and on the UK market since 2004. It does not run a standalone checkout: purchases route through a partner for fulfilment, but it is still a direct line to genuinely naturally gluten free beer.
The whole range gluten free, shipped to your door
These breweries have converted their entire output to gluten free, so buying direct gets you everything they make, not a fragment. All ship UK wide as of June 2026 unless noted.

A note on method. Most of these are gluten reduced, meaning barley beer with the gluten enzyme treated down below the legal threshold, rather than naturally gluten free. The best of them are unusually transparent about it: Thornbridge publishes a below 10ppm result for every batch, and Wold Top declares Against The Grain at 5.1ppm. That openness is exactly what you want from a brewery. If you are unsure what the difference means for you, read our guide to naturally gluten free versus gluten removed first.
How to actually do it
Pick a brewery whose beer you want, check its delivery page for the threshold and any regional limits, and order a mixed case. Most offer free delivery once you pass £40 to £60, so a case is usually the sweet spot. If you live near the brewery, several offer collection with a discount, and a few have farm shops or taprooms worth the trip.
The simplest way to choose is to start from the beer. Our directory lists the gluten level, ABV and style for every beer we cover, and every brewery page links to who makes what and where to find them. Find a beer you like the look of, see which brewery makes it, and buy it from the source. That is gluten free beer at its best: fresh, full range, and straight from the people who brewed it.
Frequently asked questions
Can you buy gluten free beer direct from breweries in the UK?
Yes. Most of the UK breweries that specialise in gluten free beer run their own webshop and ship nationwide. As of June 2026 that includes Brass Castle, Triple Point, Abbeydale, Fierce Beer, Hambleton, Wold Top, Little Ox, Thornbridge, Bristol Beer Factory and more, all of which have converted their full range to gluten free. Altgrain is the standout for naturally gluten free beer.
Why buy gluten free beer direct from the brewery?
Four reasons. Freshness, because the beer reaches you in days rather than weeks. The full range, because a brewery that is entirely gluten free can only offer you all of it direct, not through one supermarket line. Naturally gluten free options that are not stocked anywhere else. And it puts far more money into a small independent than a supermarket listing does.
Which UK brewery makes naturally gluten free beer?
Altgrain is the leading UK example. It brews in a dedicated gluten free brewhouse using millet, quinoa, buckwheat and rice, with no barley, no wheat and no enzyme treatment, so there is no gluten to remove because none was ever present. It ships UK wide from its own webshop. Green's is the other naturally gluten free name, brewing from sorghum and millet, sold via a partner checkout.
Do gluten free breweries deliver nationwide?
Most do. Of the breweries we checked in June 2026, nearly all ship across mainland UK, usually with free delivery over a threshold of around £40 to £60. A few have limits worth knowing: Brightside ships to England and Wales only, and Purity does not deliver to Northern Ireland or the offshore islands. Always check the brewery's delivery page before ordering.
Is direct from the brewery cheaper than the supermarket?
Not always on the headline price, but often better value. You are buying fresher beer, usually by the case, and supporting the producer directly. Many breweries offer free delivery over a threshold and discounts on collection. The bigger gain is access, because the best gluten free beers are frequently only available direct, and some sell out fast even there.
