Gluten free beer at Morrisons: what it stocks, and what it does not
Morrisons sells gluten free beer, but the range is thin. Around 10 lines, all gluten removed from barley, nothing naturally gluten free. Here is every beer we confirmed, what it costs, and where to go when Morrisons is not enough.
By Simon · Updated 10 June 2026
Morrisons does sell gluten free beer. That is the short answer. The longer answer is that as of June 2026 the range amounts to roughly 10 confirmed lines, every single one of them gluten removed from barley. There is nothing naturally gluten free here at all.
That matters. Not because gluten removed beer is inherently unsafe, but because a coeliac shopping at Morrisons who wants to avoid gluten removed beer entirely has no option at all. The shelf does not broadcast this. The “gluten free” label on every can gives no hint that the drink inside started life as ordinary barley beer.
So yes: Morrisons sells gluten free beer. It covers the mainstream lager brands. If you drink cold lager and gluten removed beer works for you, you can shop here. If you want anything else, you will need to look elsewhere.

Bellfield Brewery secured a Morrisons listing in England and Wales in 2018 and was stocked in some larger stores, but we could not confirm the Lawless Village IPA or Bohemian Pilsner as active online range in June 2026. It may still appear in some physical stores; check in store rather than relying on the website.
Our verdict on the range
Thin. Mainstream led. No naturally gluten free options at all.
The four mainstream lagers, Peroni, Stella, San Miguel and Daura Damm, are the dependable core of what Morrisons carries. If you drink lager and gluten removed beer is fine for you, those four will always be here. The Daura 0.0% added in April 2026 is a useful option for drivers or anyone reducing alcohol, because a properly tested alcohol free lager with a clear gluten removed process is not easy to find.
Past that, the range falls away quickly. Three craft options in Kirkstall, Vocation and BrewDog. One Welsh ale (Evan Evans CWRW). A low calorie lager in Skinny Brands. No stout. No porter. No pale ale. No gluten free craft beer of any real breadth.
Compared to Waitrose, Sainsbury’s or Tesco, Morrisons is at the thin end of supermarket gluten free beer coverage. It has the mainstream lagers that every supermarket carries, and little beyond them.
The thing the shelf will not tell you
Every beer in the confirmed Morrisons range is gluten removed. Not naturally gluten free: gluten removed.
The process works like this. The beer is brewed from barley in the normal way. Before packaging, an enzyme (usually Brewer’s Clarex, or a similar proprietary treatment) is added to break down the gluten proteins until the beer tests below 20 parts per million, which is the legal threshold for a “gluten free” label in the UK. Peroni GF, Stella GF, San Miguel GF, Daura, BrewDog Punk GF, Kirkstall Virtuous, Vocation Heart and Soul: all barley beers, all enzyme treated.
For most people this is fine. For coeliacs it is more complicated. The standard ELISA test used to measure gluten in food and drink struggles to accurately read the broken peptide fragments left behind after the enzyme process. The test says the beer is below 20ppm. A meaningful number of coeliacs still react to it. The science here is not settled, and the risk varies person to person.
The alternative is naturally gluten free beer: brewed from grains that never contained gluten in the first place, such as millet, sorghum, buckwheat or rice. Those beers do not have the same residual peptide concern. Morrisons does not stock any.
We explain the full picture in our guide to gluten removed versus naturally gluten free. It is the single most important thing to understand before trusting a supermarket’s gluten free shelf. At Morrisons the issue is sharper than at most, because 100% of the confirmed range is gluten removed. There is no naturally gluten free fallback at all.
What we would actually buy, and where
From the Morrisons shelf itself, if gluten removed beer works for you, Daura Lager is the pick. It is independently tested well below the legal threshold, it is a well made lager, and the price is reasonable. Daura 0.0% is worth knowing about if you want an alcohol free option. Of the craft picks, Kirkstall Virtuous and Vocation Heart and Soul are both solid session IPAs, and the 2 for £10 multibuys bring them into competitive territory.
If gluten removed beer does not agree with you, Morrisons cannot help. The entire range is off limits.
That is the broader problem with using a mainstream supermarket as your main source for gluten free beer. Morrisons carries what the major brand sales teams can push through a national buying process. The naturally gluten free pale ales, the gluten free IPAs, the independent breweries that have built their entire output around being safe for coeliacs: none of that makes it onto a Morrisons shelf.
Our beer directory is where you find that. Over 260 beers across dozens of breweries, with the gluten free method clearly stated for every single one. For a convenient four pack of lager on a Morrisons run, fine. For the rest of what gluten free beer can be, use the directory.
Frequently asked questions
Does Morrisons sell gluten free beer?
Yes, but the range is limited. As of June 2026 Morrisons stocks around 10 confirmed lines, all of them gluten removed from barley. The range is led by mainstream lagers (Peroni, Stella Artois, San Miguel, Daura Damm) with a small craft presence from Kirkstall Brewery, Vocation Brewery and BrewDog. There are no naturally gluten free beers in the confirmed range.
Is the gluten free beer at Morrisons safe for coeliacs?
All of the confirmed range is gluten removed and tests below the 20ppm legal threshold. Several carry Coeliac UK certification (Stella Artois GF, Skinny Brands) or are independently tested well below the limit (Daura Damm tests under 20ppm, San Miguel under 10ppm). However, none of the range is naturally gluten free. A meaningful number of coeliacs report reacting to gluten removed beer even when it passes the standard test. If that applies to you, Morrisons is not the right shop.
Does Morrisons sell any naturally gluten free beer?
No. As of June 2026 there are no naturally gluten free beers in the confirmed Morrisons range. Every beer on the shelf has been made from barley and had its gluten reduced by enzyme treatment. For naturally gluten free options you will need a specialist retailer or to buy direct from a brewery.
What is the cheapest gluten free beer at Morrisons?
The Evan Evans CWRW at around £3.10 per 500ml bottle (or four for £7.50) is one of the lowest entry price points. The San Miguel Gluten Free six pack at around £5.95 works out near £1.00 a can. All prices are approximate as of June 2026 and will vary with promotions.
Does Morrisons stock any gluten free craft beer?
A little. Kirkstall Brewery Virtuous Session IPA, Vocation Brewery Heart and Soul Session IPA and BrewDog Punk GF are the craft options in the confirmed range. All three are gluten removed using the Clarex enzyme. There is no gluten free stout, porter or pale ale beyond those three, and no craft lager at all.
