The Story

A Cumbrian brewery founded in 1999, now in Long Marton near Appleby. What sets Tirril apart is simple: everything they make is gluten free. If it says Tirril on the label, the gins included, it has been brewed and tested to be safe. Every beer is independently tested by SGS, a UKAS accredited lab, which puts them ahead of breweries that label gluten free without the testing to back it. The range runs from session blondes and bitters through to a rich stout.

GF approach: Every beer Tirril makes is gluten free, and so are their gins. The range is independently tested by SGS, a UKAS accredited laboratory, using a competitive gluten ELISA. Windermere IPA and Ullswater Blonde both returned below 10ppm in February 2026, with certificates on file, and the brewery tests its beers below the 20ppm gluten free threshold. All bottled and keg beers are also vegan, filtered without traditional finings.
